Sir Keltan Greymore
Sir Keltan Greymore, formerly Keltan of Greymore is a Larani knight and father to Clayton Greymore. Keltan was born into blood as the last of a long line of men-at-arms to lords of manors. His family was known for their loyalty and fighting prowess. In the campaign against the Kath Keltan distinguished himself by saving the life of Chimin Indama, the current Baron of Getha. In a challenge of personal combat Keltan killed several Kath worriors in an effort to allow the Baron’s men to come to their wounded liege’s aid and extract him from the battlefield. Many stories recount the event, some claiming Keltan had superhuman strength and killed over 100 Kath warriors. The truth is more likely no more than a dozen at best. However, the method of his challenge was to call out in challenge to his enemies and draw a circle in the dirt with his sword. He claimed that he would kill any man who stepped in to the circle to challenge him. The Kath most likely did not understand his words, but his intent was clear. Because of this unorthodox challenge the Baron was able to leave the field with the help of his men and survive. He granted Keltan, now Sir Keltan Greymore, knighthood and manor lands. Keltan managed his lands capably for a year before his wife, a former Halean priestess and Larani convert, bore him his one and only child, Clayton. Within 5 years Sir Keltan left his manor to answer the call of the Church of Larani for knights to assist in the Solori crusade. He fought in the crusade for an undertermined amount of years before he went missing and was presumed dead. He returned home 16 years later a changed man who spoke out against the Church’s involvement in the crusade, claiming it was genocide. He has been persued be the Church in Melderyn ever since as a murderer and heretic. The Church in Kaldor knew of the accusations but refused to give them validity and allowed Sir Keltan to return home. Keltan has had to fight duels of honor or challenges from Meldryni knights on a regular basis since then. While he appears to be a man not easily provoked, he has been known to be especially savage and brutal when fighting. Many noble families in Kaldor consider him to be unbalanced and very dangerous and cut him a wide berth.
